Sometimes, while designing an object, you begin to think of it as something alive. Not only through what it does, but through how it feels in your hands, how it occupies a space, and what kind of character it carries. Bubble Mug grew from this idea. Its rounded body and shifting posture give a familiar everyday object an almost animated presence — playful, slightly unexpected, and different from every angle.
02 / Form & Balance
Bubble Mug is shaped around a quiet game of balance. Its rounded volume allows it to rest in more than one position, changing the way the object meets the table and the way it is perceived from one moment to the next. This instability is intentional: rather than fixing the mug into a single “correct” posture, the form invites interaction, movement and choice. Each position reveals a slightly different silhouette and personality.
03 / Rethinking the Familiar
Bubble Mug is also an exercise in reconsidering the familiar. Everyday objects can become so established that their forms begin to feel inevitable. The project asks what might happen if one of the most ordinary objects around us were allowed to behave differently. Rather than inventing a new function, Bubble Mug renews an existing one through proportion, balance and character suggesting that even the most familiar typologies still leave room for curiosity and reinvention.
